A couple of prospective new members came to the club and a discussion was had about LoRa WAN. A few club members have now setup a few nodes for LoRa WAN using MeshCore code. Paul (M0ZMB) had been experimenting for a few years, along with all his other projects.

What is LoRAWAN?

LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) is a low-power, wide-area networking protocol designed to wirelessly connect battery-operated “things” to the internet in regional, national, or global networks. It targets key IoT requirements such as secure, bidirectional communication, mobility, and localization services, operating in unlicensed radio spectrums.

LoRaWAN is designed for low-bitrate, sporadic data transmission, making it perfect for sensors that only need to send small amounts of data periodically.
