{"id":1967,"date":"2016-03-07T22:53:31","date_gmt":"2016-03-07T22:53:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tsgarc.uk\/?p=1967"},"modified":"2016-03-07T22:53:31","modified_gmt":"2016-03-07T22:53:31","slug":"rotor-interface","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tsgarc.uk\/?p=1967","title":{"rendered":"Rotor interface"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.tsgarc.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/plate2_300x400.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1976\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1976\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.tsgarc.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/plate2_300x400.jpg?resize=300%2C400\" alt=\"PST-641 \/ Fireco Interface\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a>Last year I purchased a pneumatic 11m mast that can support a head load of\u00a035kg. \u00a0Currently I use an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rfhamdesign.com\/products\/spid-antenna--rotator\/rauazlightversion\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\">SPID RAU<\/a> rotator from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alfaradio.ca\" target=\"_blank\">AlfaRadio<\/a> mounted at the top of the mast to rotate antenna&#8217;s. \u00a0At 6kg the rotor is reasonably light but\u00a0for a while I&#8217;ve felt it would be better placed at the base as this removes 6kg from the top of the mast.<\/p>\n<p>This little project will need modifications to the masts support\/tilt-over base, a new rotor &#8211; as the SPID won&#8217;t take the vertical load &#8211; and an interface between the rotor and mast.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.tsgarc.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/plate1_300x400.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1975\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1975\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.tsgarc.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/plate1_300x400.jpg?resize=300%2C400\" alt=\"PST-641 \/ Fireco Interface\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a>The project has taken the first step. \u00a0After drafting\u00a0an\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tsgarc.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/pst-641d_to_fireco-115mm.pdf\" rel=\"\">engineering drawing<\/a>\u00a0of the rotor\/mast interface a local engineering company made\u00a0one for me. \u00a0For reference the rotor is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prosistel.net\" target=\"_blank\">Prosistel<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prosistel.net\/home-e\/pst641\/641e.html\" target=\"_blank\">PST-641D<\/a> and the mast is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.totalmastsolutions.com\" target=\"_blank\">Total Mast Solutions<\/a> \/ Fireco 115mm (base tube) pneumatic mast.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll post again next month when I hope to receive the new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prosistel.net\/home-e\/pst641\/641e.html\" target=\"_blank\">PST-641D<\/a> rotor and progress the next stage in the project.<\/p>\n<p><em>Andrew<br \/>\nG0RVM<\/em><\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last year I purchased a pneumatic 11m mast that can support a head load of\u00a035kg. \u00a0Currently I use an SPID RAU rotator from AlfaRadio mounted at the top of the mast to rotate antenna&#8217;s. \u00a0At 6kg the rotor is reasonably &hellip;
