Guys we have dabbled with having an agreed HF net in the past. I for one would like to see us have a regular QST HF net on a designated day, time etc. Has anyone got any thoughts on this…band…frequency…day etc. I’d also like to put forward a suggestion that we consider a mobile HF net at some point. Even dabble with HF mobile set ups etc for those that are not mobile yet or even considered it. Comments??? Mark M6KMJ

I like the idea of an HF net but it has some challenges principally around band selection, time of day and the number of people that could participate. Some folks did try this on a Monday night for a while but I think there were problems with selecting a band which the majority could use that wasn’t full of stronger signals using skywave as opposed to ground wave.
There used to be an AM net on top-band, not sure if its going still, run by folks around Bristol. I always wanted to join that but couldn’t due to antenna constraints and domestic QRM. It would be great to get a top band net going 🙂 But, its nothing more than a dream for me at the current QTH.
Not sure about a mobile HF net. It could be really tricky as it would not only have the same constraints as mentioned above but be further constrained by small, inefficient antennas, on the lower bands, too.
